Terms and conditions for attending events
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to all events listed, promoted, hosted, or facilitated by the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (“SEC”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). By registering for, attending, or participating in any event—whether organised by the SEC, a local church, a partner ministry, or an external organisation—you agree to these Terms.
This includes in-person, online, and hybrid events, free or paid, with or without registration.
2. Event Organisers and Responsibilities
2.1 SEC-Organised Events
Events planned and delivered by the SEC are managed directly by SEC departments. The SEC holds responsibility for the programme, safety arrangements, and conduct of these events.
2.2 Local Church Events
Local churches within the South England Conference operate under the SEC but plan and manage their own events.
For church-run events:
the local church leadership is responsible for the practical delivery of the event,
including safety measures, safeguarding, volunteers, venue arrangements, and programme content.
The SEC provides overarching governance but is not involved in day-to-day event delivery unless stated otherwise.
2.3 External or Partner Events
Some events listed on the SEC website are organised by external bodies or partner ministries.
For these events:
responsibility lies fully with the external organiser,
the SEC does not oversee safety, safeguarding, or programme management.
3. Registration and Attendance
3.1 Some events require registration; others are open access.
3.2 A place is confirmed only when a registration form is submitted and, where required, payment is received.
3.3 Attendance at open-access events implies acceptance of these Terms.
3.4 Each organiser may set additional requirements for registration, consent, or participation.
4. Event Changes, Cancellation, and Refunds
4.1 Event details may change (venue, programme, speakers, schedule).
4.2 The SEC will communicate updates for SEC-run events; local churches and external organisers are responsible for their own updates.
4.3 Refunds for paid events follow the refund policy of the organising body.
4.4 The SEC is not responsible for travel, accommodation, or personal costs resulting from event changes or cancellations.
5. Photography, Filming, Livestreaming, and Media Use
5.1 Most SEC events—whether in person, online, or hybrid—are photographed, filmed, recorded, or livestreamed.
5.2 Media may be used for communication, reporting, promotion, and archive.
5.3 By attending any event listed or promoted by the SEC, you consent to appearing in such media.
5.4 If you prefer not to appear in recordings:
inform the event team on arrival (for in-person events), or
turn off your camera (for online events).
5.5 For local church or external events, media arrangements are managed by the organiser.
6. Online and Hybrid Events
6.1 Online platforms may record or capture video, audio, or chat content.
6.2 Meeting links and passwords must not be shared without permission.
6.3 Participants must act respectfully when using cameras, microphones, and chat features.
6.4 Disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the session.
6.5 The SEC is not responsible for technical issues on individual devices or internet connections.
6.6 Parents/guardians should be present nearby during online youth events unless otherwise stated.
7. Children, Youth, and Safeguarding
7.1 The SEC is committed to safeguarding children, youth, and vulnerable adults.
7.2 For open events, parents/guardians remain responsible for supervising their children unless a structured, supervised programme is provided.
7.3 For youth-specific programmes, additional consent and health information may be required.
7.4 Local churches are responsible for safeguarding at their own events.
7.5 External organisers are responsible for safeguarding at external events.
8. Behaviour and Safety
8.1 Attendees must act respectfully and follow guidance from event staff and volunteers.
8.2 Anyone behaving in a disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate manner may be asked to leave or removed from an online session.
8.3 Alcohol, illegal substances, weapons, or dangerous items are not permitted at SEC or local church events.
9. Personal Belongings and Liability
9.1 Attendees are responsible for their own personal belongings.
9.2 The SEC is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal items.
9.3 The SEC is not liable for incidents at events it does not organise.
9.4 Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot legally be limited (e.g., negligence causing injury).
10. Accessibility
10.1 The SEC and local churches aim to make events as accessible as possible.
10.2 Attendees with accessibility needs should contact the organiser in advance.
10.3 External organisers must be contacted directly for accessibility arrangements.

By attending, entering, registering for, or participating in any event listed or promoted by the SEC, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
