Tottenham Lighthouse Church Celebrates 102nd Birthday of Beloved Member

Sister Gwendoline Mallette was born on 28th January 1923, in St Elizabeth, Jamaica.

Members of the Tottenham Lighthouse church family gathered to celebrate the remarkable milestone in the life of their beloved Sister, Gwendoline Mallette, who turned 102 years old on the 28th of January. It was a joy and a blessing to witness her delight as she welcomed members of her beloved church into her home with warm smiles and loving hugs.

Together with her husband, Brother Errol Mallette, 89, she was in high spirits as she welcomed Pastor Jude Jeanville, Head Elder Roger Charles, Elder Janet Joseph, Jean Cader, and Head Deaconess, Doreen Green-Tyser.

When Sister Mallette turned 100, she received her letter from King Charles, which she thankfully appreciated. On her 101st birthday, she was not experiencing the best of health; however, due to the attentiveness and care of her four sons, especially Tony (Kelvin) and Steve, a fitness trainer who lives with her, Sister Gwendoline made a remarkable comeback. She remains as sharp as ever—her mind clear, her wit quick, her spirit unwavering, and her hands steady without a tremble.

During our visit, she spoke with great affection about her love for God and His church. Her heart overflowed with gratitude and excitement as she anticipates the joy of spending eternity with her Lord.

It was truly inspiring to hear her recall fond memories from years past that had everyone in laughter. She thanked God for blessing her with a sound mind and for the many good years He has given her.

Sister Gwendoline, who worships online, spoke of her deep desire to visit the church once again to see the congregation she holds so dear. She remains active, enjoying her time in the garden and moving about with enthusiasm. Even at 102, her house stands out on the street because of her love for plants and flowers.

As we celebrate her remarkable life and the blessing of her presence among us, we continue to lift her up in prayer—asking God to sustain her health, strengthen her spirit, and grant her the continued joy of fellowship with her loved ones. Gwendoline continues to be a shining example of faith, grace, and joy in the Lord in her neighbourhood and is praying for warmer weather to get out of the house.

TED President Dr. Daniel Duda Inspires Tottenham Lighthouse Church with Vision and Faith

Dr. Daniel Duda, President of the Trans-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists, visited Tottenham Lighthouse Church on 25 January 2025, delivering a powerful sermon on vision, courage, and transformation through Christ. His inspiring message encouraged the congregation to pursue their God-given mission despite obstacles. Resident Pastor Dr. Jude Jeanville highlighted the relevance of the sermon to the church’s journey of faith and growth. Dr. Duda also recognised the impactful community work of the Tottenham Lighthouse Food Hub. His visit was a blessing, leaving a lasting impact on all in attendance.
