Statement by SEC President on the crisis in Ukraine
Statement from Dr Emmanuel Osei in the war in Ukraine
As a church, we are aware of the prophecies of Mattew 24, where Jesus predicted that there would be wars and rumours of wars. He also talked about the pestilence or plagues that would exist prior to His second advent.
The whole world came to a stand still as a result of Covid 19. We thought we were coming out of the pandemic when we are faced with war in Eastern Europe. Russia invading the Ukraine, forcing many Ukranians to leave their homes and flee into the neighbouring countries as refugees.
Many lives have already been lost as the fighting continues. As a church I urge you to take time to pray for this crisis. Pray that the angels of God, that excel in strength will hold back the winds of strife. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work upon the hearts of government and world leaders to find a resolution to this crisis. Pray for governments to open their doors to receive these refugees coming into their countries and show hospitality toward them.
ADRA is working hard with your donations to help in this crisis. We thank you for your generosity. However, our British Union Conference (BUC) President and Welsh Mission President, Pastors Eglan Brooks and Dan Serb respectively, will be travelling to Romania which boarders Ukraine, on 17th March, to help the refugees. Please feel free to donate funds to the South England Conference, marking it clearly “Ukraine Refugee Crisis.” These funds will go to help those our brothers and sisters in the refugee camps.
Friends, to be disconnected and displaced from ones family is extremely painful. War brings anger, resentment, bitterness, pain, hatred and death. It is our prayer that these traits will not be in the hearts of our Adventist brothers and sisters as we go through this crisis. Our only hope is in the second coming of Jesus Christ when wars and the effects of sin will come to an end. So we concur with John: Even so Lord Jesus, come quickly.
