Deputy Mayor Joins Barnet SDA for ‘Together We Thrive’ Community Day

‘Together We Thrive’ is a twice monthly Interactive Community initiative organised by the Community Services Department of the Barnet SDA Church and has been running for a just over a year.

On the 20th August 2026, the Department as Together We Thrive, led by Sister Joan Mabb, was able to collaborate with the London Borough of Barnet Prevention and Wellbeing Team. The theme was based on creativity meets community and incorporated summer, family activities. We were also honoured to have the Deputy Mayor of Barnet present who enjoyed learning about all the workshops.

The day was filled with workshops from local residents and church members. The children particularly enjoyed the face painting, bouncy castle, macramé and other activities. The natural flower arranging and pipe-cleaner flower workshops were also very popular with adults.

In addition to this, the Service Providers invited were the Citizens Advice Barnet, Shaw Trust, Inclusion Barnet amongst others, to introduce their services to a wider community.

The day was well attended and communications are now in progress with the Deputy Mayor regarding help for future growth.

We pray as a church that the Lord will continue to bless our church and we will continue to grow and shine our lights in the community.
