The Church Growth & Adventist Mission department exists to engage, educate, equip and empower church communities, pastors and individual members to fulfil the ‘Great Commission’ of Jesus to “Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…” (Matthew 18:19-20)
Recognising that this last command of Jesus is to be the first priority of the church, this department aims to promote and nurture a disciple making movement within the territory of the South England Conference. It is in building disciples-helping others embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, mature in Him, and then lead others to do the same-that the Kingdom and thus the church grows.
The department oversees intentional and coordinated actions of Church planting, Church revitalisation, relevant and creative church growth initiatives, coaching, Simple church networks and varied evangelistic outreach events that seek to improve the overall outreach impact of churches in their local communities. Resources are also promoted and developed that help support local church leaders and congregations.
Throughout the year the department organises various training events, seminars, retreats and workshops across southern England. We work closely with the Personal Ministries Department and Community Services department and take an active role in the South England Conference School Of Evangelism.
The department also processes applications for Global Mission funding which was set up specifically to help groups of people/church plants who find creative, innovative and yet sensitive and responsible ways to share Jesus in unreached communities.
There are several dimensions to our department, so we encourage you to browse through our other connected pages on: Church Plants, Coaching, Life Development, Natural Church Development and Simple Church.
