The management of the South England Conference Land and Property Portfolio (assets) previously came under the direction of the Treasury Department.
In 2016 the decision was made that the Assets of the SEC needed to stand alone, and the Property Development Department came into fruition under the leadership of Pastor Stephen McKenzie and Nadine Bokhoory who joined the team in 2018.
The Property Development Department exist to support the churches property and land related activities. The Property Development Department engage in a wide range of property needs from acquisitions and disposals, finding the best locations, supporting local churches with statutory obligations such as planning permission, project managing renovations, repairs of existing and new build projects.
Our role also includes engaging specialists’ services that often include surveyors, party wall consultants, project managers, structural engineers, property agents and architects.
The Property Development Departments function also includes the management of Chapel Porth Camp Site in Cornwall and Hay’s Wood Retreat in Norfolk.
We feel our churches need to be a safe, future proof and well managed place for our friends, visitors, family and members. Our buildings need to be a place of multiuse that can support the work of making disciples and building communities. Our sites need to adhere to the requirements of compliance so that we have places that we can be proud of.
The Property Departments objects are:
To support church buildings to be established and maintained as relevant, welcoming community spaces
To restore churches as training and resources spaces for members and the community, showing Jesus love and proclaiming the gospel
To offer church leaders and building committees guidance on developing churches that are happy, healthy and healing spaces
If you are a church or building committe that have a potential project or building renovation request, please complete the Property Development PQQ form which can be found in the resources section and return via email to the Property Development Manager.
