SEC Property Development Department

The Property Development Department of the South England Conference (SEC) is dedicated to supporting our churches with all land and property matters.

Originally managed under the Treasury Department, the growing demand for property-related services led to the creation of a dedicated Property team in 2016. Since then, the Property Development Department has been working to ensure that our church buildings and sites are well-managed, compliant, and purpose-fit for mission.

What We Do

We provide strategic and operational support in a wide range of areas, such as:

• Acquisitions and disposals of property

• Site identification fir new or growing congregations

• Planning applications and compliance guidance

• Project management of refurbishments, renovations and new builds

We work closely with a network of trusted professional, including surveyors, architects, structural engineers, project managers, party wall consultants and property agents to deliver tailored solutions for our churches.

Our Sites

In addition to working with local churches, we manage two key SEC-owned facilities:

• Chapel Porth Campsite – a seaside retreat in Cornwall

• Hay’s Wood Retreat – a countryside site in Norfolk
  Both offer spaces for spiritual growth, community connection, and memorable gatherings.
