SEC Strategy Residential Focuses on Mission, Collaboration and Planning for 2027

The South England Conference (SEC) held its three-day Strategy Residential in King’s Lynn from 30 September to 2 October 2026, bringing together conference leadership and departmental directors to review progress, strengthen collaboration and plan for the year ahead. External facilitators Antonio Belgrave and Pastor Mfakazi Ndebele of Positive Deviant Ltd guided discussions, helping participants reflect on progress, identify challenges and consider practical ways forward.

Building on feedback from The Big Conversation, held in October 2025, discussions explored how SEC departments could work together through seven strategic clusters to address priorities raised by church members. The approach aims to strengthen collaboration across departments and develop coordinated initiatives that respond to the needs of local churches and communities.

Ministerial wellbeing was another major focus, with Bible Worker Divinia Reynolds presenting findings from a ministers’ survey, prompting discussions on the challenges facing pastors and how the Conference can better support them. The programme also examined the ministerial appraisal system and opportunities for improvement.

Other key areas included evaluating progress against the Conference’s Inspired for Mission strategy, hearing from SEC President Pastor Moore, developing the 2027 calendar and reviewing departmental responsibilities.

The residential concluded with preparations for the 2027 SEC Session. Key areas identified for further action included strengthening cross-departmental collaboration through the strategic clusters, improving support for ministers, aligning the 2027 calendar with mission priorities and assessing progress against Inspired for Mission. These will help shape the Conference’s ongoing work and its account to delegates at Session 2027.
