Financial Leadership for a Growing Mission

The Treasury Department plays a vital role in the smooth running of the South England Conference (SEC) and its local churches. Providing administrative and financial leadership, the department ensures resources are managed responsibly to support the ministries and mission of the Church.

How We Serve

The Treasury Department is led by the SEC Treasurer and a team of dedicated professionals. Together, they work to ensure sound financial management across all operations. Key areas include:

  • Serving as trustees and stewards of the funds entrusted to the SEC.

  • Developing and monitoring the operating budget, which includes SEC departments, services, programmes, unused funds (reversions), and the distribution of money to specific needs (allocations).

  • Conducting church audits to ensure financial transparency and compliance at the local level.

  • Training and supporting local church treasurers in effective financial management.

  • Ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations and denominational policies.

  • Collaborating with the British Union Conference (BUC) to align financial practices and share best practices.

Funds managed by the Treasury Department are used to:

  • Finance the ministries of the Conference.

  • Pay employees, including pastors, ministerial support staff, and teachers, serving our churches, schools, and communities.

  • Maintain church properties and facilities across the region.
