Joint: West Croydon & Pollard’s Hill Seventh-day Adventist Churches Communications

West Croydon & Pollard’s Hill conducted their Reflecting Hope campaign last week from 11–18th May 2024. The theme was entitled, “Is there Hope for Croydon,” led by Pastor Jesse Samuel where they attempted to address real problems that are taking place in the Croydon community. With Croydon being the current knife capital of London, suffering with high levels of homelessness and poverty, the community were able to hear and see a God who cares.

Pastor Samuel preached seven evangelistic sermons that addressed the church doctrine in a tangible way that applied to the current state of the Croydon community. The sermons varied from topics highlighting the great controversy, grace, salvation, Christ’s second coming and more. The aim was to allow individuals to see that Christ is the answer to their problems while providing a church community to support them in their journey through life. The

Some previous work done within the community follows their monthly community Sabbaths where members of the church, from children to elderly engage in distributing literature, praying for, and asking the community how best the church can serve them. This along with the weekly food bank has been enlightening in developing conversations with individuals who now regularly visit the churches.

The programme was a joint venture between Pollard’s Hill and West Croydon Churches to cultivate the best of their resources. Included were free health checks beginning from 5th, 11th & 18th May 2024 for those in the community while also serving as a positive evangelistic tool to invite them to hear more about the hope that is in Jesus.

Both Churches aim to follow-up this outreach event with some more practical outreach in partnering with the council and other groups within the community to tackle the streets of Croydon and Pollard’s Hill and win them for Jesus!

The campaign concluded with seven souls giving their lives to Christ in the afternoon of May 2024 with several others indicating their desire to be a part of the next baptism in June. West Croydon and Pollard’s Hill, “Inspired for Misson.”
