First Watford Festival of Praise Unites Churches from Across the Christian Community
On Sunday 20 September 2026, the first ever Watford Festival of Praise took place at Stanborough Park, bringing together churches, worship teams and members of the wider community for an afternoon of worship, fellowship and celebration.
From 1pm until 6pm, the park was filled with music and worship as people gathered from across Watford and the surrounding area. What began as an idea to bring Christians together became a wonderful demonstration of churches worshipping side by side, united by one purpose – to glorify God.
The afternoon featured worship and music from a variety of churches and groups, including GIANT, St Albans SDA Church, The Ark, Soul Survivor, Paul Lee, Garston Community Church and the Stanborough Park Parallel worship team, who brought the festival to a close.
Throughout the afternoon there were also opportunities to hear about organisations serving the local community and beyond, alongside moments of prayer and reflection.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the day was seeing people from different churches and backgrounds worshipping together. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was incredibly positive, and since the event we have received some amazing feedback from those who attended, participated, volunteered and supported the festival.
For a first event, the response has been enormously encouraging. People have spoken about how much they enjoyed the atmosphere, the worship, the sense of community and, particularly, the opportunity to see churches coming together rather than worshipping separately within their own congregations.
But perhaps the most exciting thing about the first Watford Festival of Praise is that this was only the beginning.
Our hope from the outset was not simply to organise a one-off event, but to begin something that could become part of the Christian calendar in Watford – an annual opportunity for churches and the community to come together in worship.
Following the overwhelmingly positive response to this year’s festival, we are delighted to say that Watford Festival of Praise will return next year.
There will undoubtedly be things we learn from our first year and ways that we can make the festival even better, but the heart of the event will remain the same:
Different churches. Different traditions. One community. One God.
We are incredibly grateful to every worship team, church, organisation, volunteer, technical team, stallholder and individual who helped make the first Watford Festival of Praise possible – and to everyone who came along and became part of it.
Thank you for helping us start what we hope will become a wonderful new Watford tradition.
