Signs of the Times: Hackney Church Men’s Ministries Day

The signs of the times pointing to the return of Jesus was the theme of the Hackney Church Men’s Ministries Day which took place on Sabbath 5th September 2026.

Sabbath School Superintendent for the day, Elder Leroy Daley, alerted the church to the end time signs as indicated in Matthew 24 which point to the soon return of Jesus to the earth. Church members and visitors actively contributed to the adult lesson study which looked at Authentic Christian Ministry which covered areas such as a Christ-focused ministry of reconciliation to God and each other and knowing that God offers comfort and joy to those who suffer for the sake of the Gospel.

Hackney’s Men’s Ministries sung The Gleams of the Golden Morning before guest speaker, Pastor Rushane Walker, presented a message reflecting on the day’s theme. Pastor Walker spoke of the moral condition of the present world as one that has caused a breach in the relationship with God and each other due to sin and disobedience. Yet amid all the tumult and turmoil is a God who, with open arms, is searching for those who have wandered away but through the sacrificial love of Jesus, have been a second chance.

During the afternoon service, Pastor Walker presented an Interactive Workshop on Prophetic Leadership and Vigilance with discussions on some of the distractions which can cause a breach in our relationship with God and each other – these included the intemperate use of technology, business and working during the sacred Sabbath hours. Pastor Walker, who is the author of the book, The Unlikely Path, encouraged those listening in person as well as online to move from being passive observers of end-time signs to becoming active watchmen on the wall.
