Welling Youths in Action - Fire

As a precursor to the Youth Week of Prayer, which was held from 22 March to 28 March 2026, Welling youths left the confines of the church on Sabbath, 21 March to visit two nursing homes within the community. Under the leadership of Sister Amala, ably assisted by Sister Cathrine, the youths are being trained to recognise that love in action reveals what Jesus looks like in real life.

Residents and staff were tremendously blessed by the joyful singing, poetry, and meaningful conversations.

From Sunday through Friday, the youths confidently demonstrated their gifts and talents as they led out in the nightly meetings. Under the overarching theme “Communion in Action,” our dynamic youth speaker, Pastor Darian Rouse from East Tobago District in the Caribbean, presented the word with simplicity, clarity, and power. “Let me see some fire,” became his catchphrase on Zoom as flames filled the screens, signifying the presence of the Holy Spirit and acknowledging that true power begins with communion in action.

The week culminated with Youth’s Day on Sabbath under the theme, “Faith on Trial: Will You Stand?” From the opening moments of Sabbath School to the evening programme, the prosecutor, defence, judge, and accused took their places in the courtroom scene. Elder Shirley Grant delivered the message for Divine Service with inspirational accounts of true-life stories alongside biblical accounts, underscoring the reality that youths are on trial. Our posture, whether we stand or bow, is intrinsically linked to our personal relationship with God.

As Elder Shirley powerfully expounded on the word, she shared invaluable nuggets of truth, challenging us to stand firm in our faith. “Don’t trade your heritage for temporary things, your purity for pleasure, your purpose for popularity, and your identity in Christ for the admiration of the world.”

As the day drew to a close, it was evident that the youths were inspired and empowered to grow deeper in their faith and stand boldly for God.

“Let me see some fire.” A faith that is continually growing and guided by the Holy Spirit will stand the test of time and make all the difference between here and eternity.
