Portsmouth Seventh-day Adventist Church Celebrates First Baptismal Service of 2025

Portsmouth Seventh-day Adventist Church marked the beginning of 2025 with its first baptismal celebration. The sacred ceremony, held on Sabbath, January 18th, witnessed five precious souls - including two Pathfinders - publicly declaring their commitment to Christ through baptism. This special Sabbath also marked the culmination of our congregation's spiritual journey through the 10 Days of Prayer, a period of dedicated communion with God and collective spiritual reflection. The timing of this service perfectly aligned with the conclusion of this meaningful prayer initiative, making it an especially significant moment in our church calendar.

The service was beautifully orchestrated with uplifting musical performances. Island Harmonies touched hearts with their rendition of "Your Grace Still Amazes Me," creating an atmosphere of reverence and gratitude. Church pastor Dr Elliott Williams delivered a powerful message titled "But When You Pray," which resonated deeply with the congregation and baptismal candidates alike.

This baptismal service represents more than a religious ceremony - it marks a profound spiritual milestone for our growing church family. We welcome these five new members who have chosen to deepen their relationship with God and join our faith community.

In a touching display of support and solidarity, the Pathfinders department honoured their newly baptised members with a guard of honour.

As a means of encouragement to others, some of the candidates shared their reason for surrendering their lives towards Christ. Pathfinder Darren chose to begin 2025 with a new spiritual journey with Christ. Alberta sought baptism because she wants to be born again and be ready for Christ's return. For Jermine, this baptism represents a fresh start. Though baptised 20 years ago, he felt his spiritual growth had stagnated. Now, he's turning over a new leaf and embarking on a renewed journey with Christ. Finally, Pathfinder Davontae shared that it's never too late to give your life to Christ.

Let us continue to uplift, encourage, and steadfastly pray for our newly baptised members as they embark on this transformative spiritual journey with Christ. May they find strength, guidance, and unwavering support within our church family as they grow in their faith, deepen their understanding of God's word, and develop their personal relationship with our Saviour.
