AREA 6B PRISON MINISTRY EMPHASIS DAY
The Area 6B Prison Ministry Emphasis Day was held on Sabbath, 2 May 2026, at Brixton SDA Church. The event was organised under the auspices of the SEC Prison Ministries and Area 6B, reflecting a shared commitment to reaching those behind bars with the hope of the gospel.
The event, themed "Hope Behind the Walls," was designed to raise awareness of the needs of incarcerated individuals and to strengthen the church’s commitment to prison outreach, inspired by Hebrews 13:3: “Remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison.” The event was led by Elder Sammy and Sister Barbara Perry-Robinson, whose dedication and organisational efforts ensured the smooth running of the day. Their passion for prison ministry was evident throughout, and they coordinated the programme with excellence and spiritual sensitivity.
Although the event was not as well attended as expected, the numbers were not discouraging either. A faithful and engaged group gathered, creating a meaningful and impactful atmosphere. The church was filled with members from across Area 6B who came in strong support of the ministry. The atmosphere was one of prayerful engagement, compassion, and a shared sense of mission toward those who are often forgotten by society.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Pastor Dailey and the leadership of Brixton SDA Church for the opportunity to host the event in their church. Their hospitality, support, and willingness to provide the venue were greatly appreciated.
Pastor Seth Adjare delivered the morning sermon on the topic “Restoration, Not Rejection.” He challenged the congregation to see prisoners not as outcasts but as individuals worthy of redemption and a second chance. Drawing from biblical and contemporary examples, Pastor Adjare called on the church to move beyond judgement and actively participate in restoring dignity and hope to the incarcerated.
The afternoon programme continued at 4:30 pm with a presentation titled “Understanding the Criminal Mind.” The session was led by Elder Trevor Vincent, a retired police officer. Drawing on his years of law enforcement experience, Elder Vincent provided valuable insights into the psychological and social factors that lead to criminal behaviour. His presentation helped attendees better understand how to approach prison ministry with both wisdom and compassion.
Pastor Churchill Davy of the New Testament Church was present and gave a 10–15 minute presentation on prison outreach efforts. Pastor Davy, who has been described as the backbone of some of the leadership in Area 6B, brought significant encouragement and insight to the gathering. His longstanding commitment to the work and his influence across the area were greatly appreciated by all who attended.
The prison ministry within SEC Prison Ministry and Area 6B is growing steadily and making a tangible impact on the local community. Attendees expressed renewed passion for visiting prisoners, supporting their families, and advocating for restorative justice programmes. Several new volunteers came forward to join the ministry.
As this ministry continues to expand, we welcome your prayers and support in serving the forgotten. Financial contributions, volunteer time, and in-kind donations (such as Bibles, toiletries, and clothing for prisoners) are greatly appreciated.
The Area 6B Prison Ministry Emphasis Day, supported by SEC Prison Ministry, was a resounding success. Under the leadership of Elder Sammy and Sister Barbara Perry-Robinson, and with the support of key figures such as Pastor Churchill Davy, the event informed, inspired, and mobilised the church to act on the biblical call to “remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison” (Hebrews 13:3). We look forward to the continued growth and impact of this vital work across Area 6B and beyond.
