Tottenham Lighthouse: Daniel & Revelation Seminar – Part 2
On Sunday, 1 March, Pastor Robert Wright, Assistant Professor at Northern Caribbean University, conducted the second Daniel & Revelation Seminar on behalf of the Prayer & Personal Ministries Departments of Tottenham Lighthouse Church. The theme of his presentation was “The Power Behind Global Governance,” focusing on Daniel chapter 7. It was another informative and eye-opening seminar. On Sunday, 5 April 2026, from 7:00 to 8:15pm, we are eagerly awaiting the third seminar, which you CANNOT afford to miss.
Pastor Wright reminded us that attempts at global governance over the centuries started with Lucifer’s rebellion against God and his desire to overthrow God’s government. His first attempt at globalisation after the Flood was the building of the Tower of Babel. After Babel, a number of other dominant heathen powers arose, all under the control of Satan. Their common agenda was to destroy the government of God on earth, as well as those who worship Him.
Daniel chapter 7 outlines the major global powers. Over 2,500 years ago, the Sovereign Lord revealed to the prophet Daniel the great spiritual conflict that would continue until the end of time. The four beasts in Daniel 7 represent the four empires depicted in the image of Daniel 2. The angel gave Daniel the interpretation of the fourth beast and the little horn on its head. History is clear as to what the little horn represents. The fourth beast to hold global sway was the ruthless iron kingdom of Rome. When the pagan empire fell, the church [little horn] took the reins of power. “When the Roman Empire had disintegrated and its place had been taken by a number of rude, barbarous kingdoms, the Roman Catholic Church not only became independent of the states in religious affairs but dominated secular affairs as well.” (Carl Conrad Eckhardt, The Papacy and World Affairs [1937], p.1).
Pastor Wright explained that the three horns ‘plucked up’ by this little horn were the Arian nations of the Heruli (493 AD), the Vandals (534 AD), and the Ostrogoths (538 AD). The Papacy thereafter enjoyed complete and unrivalled supremacy. The little horn would speak “great words against the Most High… wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws…” (Daniel 7:25). This implies that, in its opposition to the Most High, it would set itself up as being equal with God. Pastor Wright used quotes from various sources to give us an insight into how the Papacy achieved this. Some of the quotes below left us astounded.

“The Pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief of the kings, having plenitude of power, to whom has been entrusted by the omnipotent God direction not only of the earthly but of the heavenly kingdom”

“Roman Catholicism became ‘the most persecuting faith the world has ever seen… [commanding] the throne to impose the Christian [Catholic] religion on all its subjects. “The [Roman Catholic] Church changed the observance of the Sabbath to Sunday by right of the divine, infallible authority given to her by her founder, Jesus Christ. The Protestant claiming the Bible to be the only guide of faith has no warrant for observing Sunday. In this matter the Seventh-day Adventist is the only consistent Protestant.” The Catholic Universe Bulletin, August 14, 1942, p. 4.
“Sunday is our MARK of authority… the church is ABOVE the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.”

Pastor Wright informed us that previous attempts at global governance had always resulted in persecution of God’s faithful people. It is a biblical fact that persecution is coming again. The true church of Jesus Christ will be severely oppressed. Some will be killed, and others will be treated as slaves. It is the dragon, Satan, that is behind the New World Order. However, the saints “overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they did not love their lives unto the death” (Revelation 12:11). Jesus, the Lamb, will rescue the church from the wrath of the dragon. HALLELUJAH!!
