On the weekend of 31 May to 1 June 2025, Bury St. Edmunds Seventh-day Adventist Church celebrated its 125th anniversary with a joyful programme themed “Honouring the Past, Celebrating the Present, Building the Future.” Worship, music, and historical reflections filled the Sabbath, culminating in a message that inspired renewed commitment to mission. Local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Thetford, joined the celebration and commended the church for its positive role in community cohesion and support. The weekend concluded with a Family Fun Day, reaffirming the church’s ongoing service to its neighbours.

On Sabbath 5 April, Bury St Edmunds Seventh-day Adventist Church marked World Autism Awareness with a moving service themed “Bringing Light to Autism Awareness.” Led by the Nurture Department, the congregation wore blue to show support, highlighting the importance of inclusion and understanding for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Rooted in Psalm 139:14 and 1 Corinthians 12:22, the message called for churches to reflect Christ’s love by creating welcoming spaces for the neurodivergent and embracing all as “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Bringing Light to Autism Awareness: A Sabbath of Unity and Compassion

Stanborough Primary School has won the prestigious Michael O’Mara Award at the 2025 Global Canvas Art Competition by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Their winning project, Wildlife Through Our Eyes – The World is in Your Hands, celebrated the theme of coexistence between humans and wildlife, highlighting students’ creativity and faith-based appreciation for God’s creation.

The South England Conference (SEC) Prison Ministries is experiencing remarkable growth, expanding its outreach to prisons across the region through chaplain partnerships, literature distribution, and humanitarian support. With recent donations of sleeping bags and trainers to HMP Highpoint and Chelmsford, and ongoing collaborations with the BUC and Adventist Discovery Centre, the ministry continues to answer Christ’s call to serve the imprisoned (Matthew 25:36).

To mark its tenth anniversary, the East London School of Music (ELSOM), was invited to Westminster Abbey on Easter Sunday 2025. Students were inspired by a private organ recital by Assistant Organist Paul Greally and honoured with the rare opportunity to play the Abbey’s iconic organ. The experience rounded off ELSOM’s anniversary month and highlights the school’s growing influence in music education and faith-based outreach.

The East London School of Music (ELSOM), a Centre of Influence under the South England Conference, marked its 10th anniversary with a celebratory concert on 10 April 2025 at Clapton Community SDA Church. Attended by Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Gloucester, and around 400 guests, the concert featured classical and spiritual music performed by ELSOM students and partner orchestras. The event highlighted a decade of community impact through music education and spiritual enrichment.

The South England Conference hosted a five-day evangelism training from 11–15 April 2025, led by Dr David M. Klinedinst. Lay members and pastors learned practical methods to build evangelism-focused churches through vision casting, relationship-building, and 12-month outreach cycles. Emphasising Christ’s method and personal connection, the training equipped attendees to implement effective, prayer-led evangelism across the SEC.
