ADRA-UK Joins NGOs to Lobby Government on Horn of Africa

On 20 September a cohort from an informal syndicate of 15 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) visited No 10 Downing Street with a petition signed by 30,237 people urging, the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, to fund the humanitarian response in the Horn of Africa.

Currently, there are 50 million people in the region who are pushed towards either starvation in the Horn or famine in neighbouring Somalia. Bert Smit, CEO of ADRA-UK said, "The situation in the Horn of Africa is heart-rending. They are experiencing the worst drought for 40 years. Together with other major NGOs we are seeking to advocate that the Government not only address the current crisis but to galvanise the international community to help."

From 1–8 November, the Romanian District in London united for the Reflecting Hope Evangelistic Campaign themed “The Great Escape,” with Pastor Lucian Cristescu as main speaker. Hosted across five churches, the event drew 150–200 nightly attendees, including up to 70 non-Adventist guests. The campaign culminated in a joyful Sabbath celebration and 15 individuals committing to begin Bible studies in preparation for baptism.
