Balham Hosts Inspiring UCY Education and Careers Fair
Balham SDA Church welcomed hundreds of attendees over the weekend for the UCY Education and Careers Fair, a lively event combining faith, education, and professional development.
The weekend started with an energetic Sabbath service led by the UCY team, featuring UCY children as the praise team and a thought-provoking sermon by Pastor Dusanka Rancic, Chief Editor of Stanborough Press. Using biblical examples, she reminded the congregation that success often follows a season of preparation.
Serena Santona, Academic Registrar of Newbold College, introduced attendees to Newbold’s faith-based academic programmes, while Saturday evening’s session explored artificial intelligence in ministry and personal growth. Led by Pastor Ray Patrick of Adventist Radio London and UCY Director Craige Young, the discussion provided practical insights into AI’s potential.
Sunday’s fair showcased workshops across various industries, from healthcare to media, and offered opportunities for direct conversations with professionals. The keynote address by YolanDa Brown OBE DL—saxophonist, broadcaster, and Chancellor of the University of Kent—was a highlight. Her message, “Always say yes to opportunities,” inspired attendees to lead with confidence.
UCY extend heartfelt thanks to Balham SDA Church for hosting the event and looks forward to an even bigger celebration next year.
