Barnet Church Community Event
On the 21st of September, Barnet Church had their community event. This was a fundraising event to help support their community space 'Together We Thrive'.
The space offers light meals, emergency food parcels, toiletries, and baby items. Together with support/referrals to Barnet Council, Barnet Citizens
Advice, and other local organisations where possible. Barnet council, who showed an interest in their initiative, expressed that they would like to help. Their words were, "We want to see the Together We Thrive - thrive."
In the centre of the hall, you will find a prayer table, for those who need spiritual support and referral by way of literature for those who are seeking counselling. This outreach has not been without challenges. Initially, Barnet was unable to secure a space to use for their community space. Following many prayers and God’s grace, the use of the hall twice a month was offered to Barnet in January 2025. Then there were challenges with storage, but God has now provided additional storage space.
Despite all this and with plans in place, on the 3rd of May 2025, Barnet Church had a Community Day, whereby the SEC Community Services team led the service, and a lovely day was had by all visitors. The following week, Barnet launched their 'Together We Thrive' community space for the first time.
Since that day, the Community Service Department, under the leadership of Sister Joan Mabb, has been able to offer meals, a warm space, emergency parcels, basic support to all their visitors effectively, as well as a chat with a friendly face.
Barnet Church is continuing to thrive through God’s grace, and we all continue to look forward to feeding and helping those in need following ‘Christ’s method alone’.
