Barnstaple Health Checks Event

On Friday, 26th September 2025, a ‘new door’ was opened for the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in North Devon when members from the area served the community at Pannier Market, Barnstaple, through health checks.

It was the first time such a project had been planned and approved by the local authorities in the area. The focus of the day was not on the number of people served—although, notably, volunteers from Barnstaple SDA Group and Exeter SDA Church supported almost 30 individuals in just five hours.

What was more important for us was for the local authorities to see us as normal people with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of the local community, and thus to gain their trust in our project, securing a future of consistent collaboration.

We give thanks to God for helping us have meaningful conversations and interactions with a variety of people in need of health, hope, and purpose.

May God help the church community in the area to know how to maintain and ‘enlarge’ this door that has been opened for the everlasting Gospel in North Devon.
