Building God’s Family: Welling Church Highlights Men’s Role in Faith and Community

On Sabbath, 23 August 2025, Welling Seventh-day Adventist Church celebrated Men’s Ministries Day, an inspiring event centred around the theme “Building God’s Family.” The day was filled with insightful sessions, heartfelt fellowship, and spiritual growth, with activities designed to empower and strengthen the church community.

The event was meticulously planned and organised by Austin Nwankpa, the leader of Welling Men’s Ministries, in close collaboration with the planning committee. Together, they crafted a programme that addressed both the spiritual and practical needs of men in the church and beyond.

The day’s proceedings began with an engaging Sabbath School. The lesson study took the form of a panel discussion led by Antony Furrs, with support from Terrance Blackman, Ben Dantzie, Ian Thompson, and Michael Asarie-Bediako.

The Communication, Media, and Audio-Visual teams were recognised for their outstanding work in supporting the church’s mission.

The Men’s Choir presented the meditational song, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”

Devon Boyd, South England Conference Men’s Ministries Coordinator, delivered an impactful sermon. His message resonated deeply with the congregation, focusing on how men can actively contribute to building God’s family within their homes, communities, and the wider church body.

The afternoon session was equally enriching, as Alex Momoh took the floor to address an increasingly important topic: Mental Health and Its Challenges. Through his thoughtful presentation, he not only raised awareness about the mental health struggles many face, but also provided practical guidance on how the church can offer support and healing to those in need.

As the evening drew near, the event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and a closing prayer by Pastor Habib. He expressed gratitude for the unity and commitment displayed throughout the day. His words resonated deeply with everyone, reminding all present that the true strength of God’s family lies in the love, support, and service shared among its members.

To God be the glory for a successful and enriching Men’s Ministries Day. It was a day that truly celebrated the power of community, the strength of brotherhood, and the importance of building God’s family in all aspects of life.

We look forward to more such transformative events, where we come together to grow in faith and fellowship.
