Death of Dr Paul Smith

We are sad to learn of the death of Dr Paul Raymond William Smith, who passed away on 14 June.

Born on 6 November 1933 in Colchester, Dr Paul studied for his Ministerial Diploma at Newbold College and completed his BA degree at Columbia Union College in 1959. He later pursued his MA and MDiv degrees at Andrews University, USA.

Dr Paul entered denominational employment in June 1959 and was ordained in March 1967. Subsequently, Dr Paul accepted the call to ministry in the North England Conference (NEC) to begin his internship. He was later called to serve in the Irish Mission from January 1962, to December 1969. He returned to serve the NEC from January 1970 to August 1977. He was called to the South England Conference from September 1977 until his retirement in March 2000.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Eleanor, and his adult children Pastor Geoff Smith, Maureen, Andrew and their extended family.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday 10 July at the Ipswich Seventh-day Adventist church.

We look forward, with the family, to Christ's soon return on that glorious resurrection day.
