Faith Flourishes at London Ghana SDA Church as Six Embrace Baptism

A wave of spiritual joy swept through the London Ghana Seventh-day Adventist Church in East London on 22 March 2025, as six individuals publicly declared their commitment to Christ through baptism. This significant occasion marked a new chapter in their faith journey, following the impactful “Safe” discussions held during the church’s Youth Week of Prayer.

The baptism ceremony, a cornerstone event in the life of any Christian community, was led with reverence by the Head Pastor of London Ghana, Pr Boakye Asiamah, alongside his associate, Bright Agyeman Baah. The dedicated pastoral team, in collaboration with the Personal Ministries, Youth Ministries and Deaconry departments, worked tirelessly to create a truly uplifting and memorable experience for all who attended.

Pr Asiamah expressed his profound delight at witnessing this recent outpouring of faith, particularly following his return from a missionary outreach in Ghana as part of the West African Division’s Impact 2025 project. “Having recently baptised ten people in a stream at the end of an open-air campaign in conjunction with the Mount Pisgah SDA Church in Ntonso of the Ashanti Region in Ghana, it was amazing to witness yet another baptism in a whole different setting over here in England, back to back within the same month.” He underscored the fundamental calling of every minister to share the Good News, and emphasised the valuable role the “Safe” seminars that had been organised by the Youth Department, held between 17 and 22 March, played in fostering spiritual growth and leading individuals to make this life-changing decision.

One of the newly baptised members, Miss Hema Dixon Owusu Agyei, shared her heartfelt relief and joy at taking this significant step of faith. Hema, who works in the dynamic world of fashion media, acknowledged the potential challenges of aligning her profession with her newfound religious convictions. However, she expressed a resolute determination to live a life that authentically reflects her faith, stating, “I know that this journey is not going to be perfect or easy, but I will do everything I can to show that I am truly a child of God. I know that I am only human, but I want to do my best not to engage in any mistakes that will make guilt replace the feelings of the deep sense of peace that I’m feeling now after being baptised.”

Miss Ruby Dankwah, the lead Clerk of the London Ghana Secretariat, noted the current membership of the church stands just shy of the 900 mark. She and her team are diligently committed to ensuring that each member is supported and nurtured in their spiritual development. Pr Asiamah highlighted the church’s proactive approach to fostering a supportive mentorship environment, where established members actively guide and encourage new converts. This initiative aims to ensure that new members are embraced as integral parts of the church family, allowing their faith to deepen, and their unique spiritual gifts to be cultivated for God’s glory.

This recent baptism serves as a vibrant testament to the thriving and expanding faith community at London Ghana SDA Church.
