Harlow Church Celebrates the Baptism of Five New Believers

Harlow Seventh-day Adventist Church recently rejoiced as five precious souls committed their lives to Christ through baptism across two beautiful services held on 21 June and 23 August 2025.

On 21 June, over 200 members gathered to witness the baptism of Sophie Surendran and Sarah Khurwolah. The atmosphere was filled with joy as Pastor Sameer Khurwolah conducted the ceremony. The moment was especially moving as the mothers of both girls presented them to the church with tears of happiness, expressing their joy at seeing their daughters renounce their old lives and embrace a new life in Christ.

Before entering the water, Sophie’s favourite text, John 14:1–3, was read aloud, and the congregation sang her chosen hymn, “Oh, How I Love Jesus.” Similarly, Sarah’s favourite scripture, Mark 8:36, was read before she was baptised, with her favourite song sung as her father joyfully baptised her.

Just two months later, on 23 August, the church once again celebrated during a special baptismal service following a week-long evangelistic campaign led by Pastor Brighton Kohlisa, under the theme: “In Times Like These, We Need a Saviour.”

Three individuals made the life-changing decision to surrender to Christ: Bright Boateng, his wife Aba Badu Mensah, and Charlton Williams. They were lovingly introduced by Brother Esrly Skerritt-Weekes, Sister Esther Plange, and Brother Maurice, respectively. Each candidate’s favourite Bible verse was shared before they were baptised, marking their commitment to walk with Jesus.

Of particular note was Brother Charlton, who had never attended an Adventist church before. Touched by the Holy Spirit during the week of meetings, he responded to God’s call. “I’m so glad I made the decision to give my life to Christ while I still have the opportunity,” he shared.

The entire church family rejoiced, welcoming the five new members with open arms and heartfelt prayers. We ask that God continue to strengthen and uphold them as they grow in their faith and prepare for the glorious return of our King.
