Hindu lady receives Jesus as Saviour after studying the Bible for nine years
It was a rainy day with thunderstorm on 23rd October 2022. Despite the harsh weather and travel disruptions, faithful believers from Immanuel Tamil SDA church group gathered at the Southall SDA Church to celebrate the Baptism of Sister Jesintha Satgunarajah.
Sister Jesintha is from a Hindu family and her journey towards Christ has been a very long one. Even though she had heard of Jesus Christ and His teachings, Sis. Jesintha was never much interested to know Jesus until when she went through a relationship dispute. During her visit to a relative in Germany, she was overcome by the Spirit of God.
Returning to the UK, Sister Jesintha contacted a member of Immanuel Tamil SDA church and began studying the Bible. In 2015, after many months of Bible study, Sis. Jesintha put her hand up during a Baptism service to say she had given herself to Jesus.
There were many obstacles along her way, especially her family and friends. Nevertheless, Sister Jesintha had always been faithful to Jesus, continued to study the Bible and regularly attended the Church.
Her parents and extended family were not pleased with her decision to stand for Christ. However, her faithfulness and perseverance finally paid off, as her husband and children finally agreed and supported her decision to become a child of God publicly on 23rd October 2022.
The special baptism service began with a welcome by Pr. Erasmus, followed by a song of praise. The opening prayer was offered by Bro. Roshan and a heartfelt special song was rendered by Sister Sharon Suthakar.
Message for the occasion was given by Pr. John Melki and the vows were read by Elder Suthakar and agreed by Sister Jesintha.
Pr. Wayne Erasmus conducted the voting, followed by a prayer of commitment. Bro. Robin introduced the candidate with her favourite Bible verse, Philippians 4:4.
Heaven and earth rejoiced as a precious soul was Baptised by Pr. John Melki, witnessed by Sis. Jesintha’s three children, her husband (Mr. Satgunarajah), ITSDAC and Southall SDA Church members.
Dedicatory prayers were offered by Pr. Jay Michael, Pr. Jefferson Melki and Pr. David Aruldoss.
The baptismal service ended with the presentation of gifts and certificate to the candidate followed by a wonderful dinner as church members welcomed all to fellowship.
Sister Jesintha’s wish and prayer is for her immediate and extended family to accept Jesus Christ as God and Saviour. Please remember her in your prayers too.
