London Area 6: United in Exaltation & Prayer
Tottenham Lighthouse Church Prayer Ministry hosted the London Area 6 programme, ‘United in Exaltation & Prayer‘ on Sabbath, 22 November 2025. It was cold and rainy on the outside, but inside the sanctuary we experienced warmth and blessings from the Lord. It was indeed a high day in Zion, as the London Area 6 Churches fellowshipped and magnified the name of the Lord together.
The service started with a parade of churches. Representatives from the various churches in London Area 6 entered into the sanctuary and made their way to specially reserved seats, as the song, ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’ played in the background. Also, on screen as they marched in, was a video showing examples of community and prayer activities undertaken by London Area 6 churches.
The programme was divided into four main sections: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. The music was excellent. The Praise Team was on top form, also were the other singers Sis Charmalyn September, Sis Janine Thorpe and Kevin McLaughlin. Sis Eileen Philip, Hackney Church wrote a special poem which she read during the Confession segment of the programme. It was well received.
We had a surprise guest from Jamaica, Pastor Levi Johnson, Executive Secretary of the Jamaica Union Conference, who joined the service via Zoom. He gave us an update of the situation in Jamaica and what the Seventh-day Adventist Church was doing on the ground to alleviate the suffering presently being experienced by many. A second offering was collected for ‘Hurricane Melissa Relief.’
We were blessed to have a dynamic speaker, Pastor Dee Edwards for this special service. The title of her sermon was, ‘The Prayer of the Canaanite Woman’, based on the story found in Matthew 15:21-28. There were many ‘take home points’ from the sermon, but what stuck in the minds of many was that Jesus journeyed from Jerusalem to Tyre and Sidon - approximately 100 miles, a journey of many days. He was on a mission not only to heal the woman’s daughter, but to save this Canaanite woman who knew who He was, for she cried out to Him, ‘…O Lord, thou Son of David…’. Pastor Dee Edwards, the pastor of Harrow and Hanworth Churches, was presented with a fruit basket at the end of the service.
There were many positive comments about the service, such as:
‘It was an absolutely wonderful day from beginning to end… I was blessed, thoroughly blessed. What a wonderful, spirit-filled, awesome fellowship, a consecrated day...’
‘Sharing in worship with you and the Area 6 family was uplifting, and we thank God for the way He moved throughout the day.’
‘We were truly blessed yesterday and praise God for the initiative and all the planning and preparation to ensure that the day was such a blessing for all who attended.
‘I was blessed. Thank you for organising the day.’
‘Thank You’ to the London Area 6 Churches that sent representatives to this special service. Thanks also to all those who participated in, and supported the programme, including those Prayer Ministers who stormed the Throne of God for its success. The Lord inspired the service, provided guidance and resources and His name was exalted and praised throughout the day. We join with the Psalmist to shout, ‘The Lord liveth, and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.’ Psalm 18:46
