'Made Whole: A Christian Wellbeing Journal'

Did you know that journaling - yes, journaling - has some fantastic and surprising benefits? Not only does it help reduce stress and facilitate your memory, but it even decreases your susceptibility to illness! This is one of the reasons that spurred Ashley Nsimbi to write her new journal - 'Made Whole: A Christian Wellbeing Journal'.

Ashley, a young Adventist woman from Hertfordshire, who received a severe mental illness diagnosis four years ago and is currently on a recovery journey, is the author of the new journal. She gives back to the community by sharing her lessons during the recovery process. She's a campaigner and media volunteer for Rethink Mental Illness (a mental health charity), and she's been featured in a BBC article. She describes the book as "a Christian journal that helps young women prioritise their wellbeing and allow God into all aspects of their lives."

The 12-week journal is based on Luke 8:48, "And He said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace." It features 84 Bible promises and 36 powerful affirmations to claim each week, which are all helpful for boosting your mood and reconnecting with God.

Aside from the benefits of journaling, as proven by research, here are some other reasons why Ashley was inspired to write the journal:

Journaling is a great coping mechanism that she uses to deal with negative emotions. "It has aided my walk with God, as I recorded my prayers and would look back at what I wrote," she says. She wants to "destigmatise mental illness, especially in the Church. The topic isn't addressed enough, even though 1 in 4 people may experience mental health problems in any given year. I believe the more we spread awareness, the better we can support each other." She aims to promote holistic health (spiritual, mental, and physical), which fits with God's plan for us to live abundant lives (John 10:10).

The journal was launched on 25th September on Zoom. On the day, testimonials were given by individuals who are still being blessed by the timeless reminders from the Word of God in the journal and are finding the journaling prompts to be of great use in their lives.
