Men’s Ministry at Ilford Central Raises Prostate Cancer Awareness in Black Community

Ilford Central SDA Church Men’s Ministry presented a Prostate Cancer Awareness programme on 20th July 2025 at the church hall. The presentation served as a voice to raise awareness about the high mortality rate of prostate cancer among Black African and Caribbean men, particularly due to the late diagnosis of this fatal disease.

There were testimonies from individuals who had experienced the journey themselves, highlighting that early diagnosis can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment and cure.

The event attracted church members as well as many from the wider community. The programme was presented by Elder DJ Didjier of Plaistow SDA Church, a PhD researcher specialising in prostate cancer.
