SEC Area 6C Day of Fellowship 2022
A Week of Prayer and Revival featuring Guest Speaker, Elder Fitzroy Morris (Leytonstone SDA Church) culminated in a SEC Area 6C Day of Fellowship held at the Clapton SDA Church on Sabbath 12th November 2022.
Resident Minister, Pastor Nerine Barrett (Clapton SDA) alongside Area 6C Coordinator, Pastor Joojo Bonnie (Hackney SDA) welcomed the full capacity congregation who had come from the majority of the 25 churches which make up Area 6C. Among the congregation of Pastoral and lay members were SEC Men’s Ministries Director, Devon Boyd, SEC Women’s and Possibilities Ministries Director, Jacqueline Otopka and London Area Advisory Council Director, Pastor Anthony Opoku-Mensah.
Prayer was a key theme of the day with the opportunity for those in attendance to take any personal request that they might have to the Area 6C Prayer Coordinators who were on hand to intercede on their behalf. The Sabbath School Superintendent for the day, Elder Rohail John from the London Asian SDA Church encouraged attendees to look forward to the blessings they would receive though bible study, songs of praise, mission story, testimonies and most importantly prayer. Alongside a highly engaging lesson review presented by Robert Bobby from Harlow SDA Church were also a vibrant praise and worship session led by Clapton’s Praise Team.
The Mission Story which told of the experience of a young man called Solomon who became a world changer by leading a group of young people in his local village to Christ was exquisitely presented by young Elder, Kevin Halder from Harlow Town SDA Church. The congregation were then further gripped by testimonies shared by members from various churches. Elen Omagwa expressed her gratitude to God for rescuing her from the wreckage of a car accident where tragically two others had lost their lives while Esther Plange from Harlow Town SDA Church shared her joy in reaching a young Muslim woman who has now become a regular attendee on the church Prayer Line where she is learning and becoming receptive to the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In his concluding message for the week of prayer and revival, guest speaker, Elder Fitzroy Morris, under the theme You Raise Me Up commended members of Area 6C to take the glorious message of salvation through Christ out into the communities from which they belong. He said: “Seventh-Day Adventism is a movement powerfully equipped by God to share the message of salvation through Christ to everyone. It is a high calling begun from the prophets of old through to us, His present day people. Our prophetic roots, identity and message found in Revelation 14:6-12 act as a reminder of the important role God’s has entrusted into the hands of those who at His return will be commended for having been His faithful stewards, sharing the message of salvation with all humanity, that all would have an opportunity to be saved (John 3:16).”
This special day of fellowship was then brought to a celebratory close with an evening concert of praise which included the London Asian and London Ghana SDA Choirs alongside the East London School of Music, Aina, Rhian on the flute and male duo singing group – Way Marks (Anthony and Mike Semper) from the Romford SDA Church as a foretaste of the splendour to come in Heaven when at last Jesus returns to take all of His faithful ones home.
