Watford Town Church say farewell to retiring Pastor Valentine Roach

Sabbath 31st December 2022 was a significant date in the calendar for Watford Town Church.

It was 100 years to the day that the church was established. In his introduction, First Elder, Richard Henry advised the church that on 31st December 1922 Pastor Arthur S Maxwell established the Watford Town Church.

Valentine Roach felt the call to surrender his life to God 62 years ago. He has given 33 years in pastoral ministry, the last 5 years at Watford Town Church.

Throughout his 33 years of ministry, he served 9 circuits of churches both here in the UK and back in Jamaica. He was a pastor and Publishing Director in Jamaica before his ministry tenure in the UK.

Elder Ralford McLeary said a special prayer for his wife Pat and 3 sons. Romain, Romario and Rohan who were in attendance supporting him as he presented his final message before retiring.

His final message was entitled “Celebrating God’s Goodness with a Heart of Thankfulness.

First Elder Richard Henry and Church Clerk Lorraine Cudjoe presented him and Sis Roach with gifts. The Watford Town Junior Sabbath School also presented him with gifts and the Community Services team presented him with a gift for his unwavering support for the weekly soup kitchen.

Also in attendance and giving a special word of greeting were Pastor Michael Mbui, SEC Personal Ministries Director and Pastor Cecil Perry, former BUC President.

We wish him well as he now moves into this new phase of his life and ministry.

From 1–8 November, the Romanian District in London united for the Reflecting Hope Evangelistic Campaign themed “The Great Escape,” with Pastor Lucian Cristescu as main speaker. Hosted across five churches, the event drew 150–200 nightly attendees, including up to 70 non-Adventist guests. The campaign culminated in a joyful Sabbath celebration and 15 individuals committing to begin Bible studies in preparation for baptism.
