The SEC values your contributions to our news and stories. Whether it’s a special event, an inspiring testimony or achievement, your story can encourage and uplift others across our church family and beyond.

Guidelines for Submission

How to Send Your Story

You can currently submit your story using the following methods:

  • News Submission Form - Use the form on this page.

  • Email - Send your stories, along with any photos or videos, to communication@secadventist.org.uk. Include your name, church, and contact details. Provide a brief description of the activity depicted in your submission.

Timeliness Matters

  • To ensure your story is relevant and impactful, please submit it as soon as possible after the event or occurrence.

  • For inclusion on our news platforms - including the SEC website, SEC newsletter, and 60SEC News - submissions must be received by Wednesday at 2pm.

Keep your story clear and concise

  • For the website or SEC Newsletter, aim for no more than 500 words.

  • For 60SEC News, aim for no more than 50 words.

Writing Your Story

Include the key details using the 5 W’s and H of news writing:

  • Who: Who is involved in the story? Mention names, roles, and any relevant groups or organisations.

  • What: What happened? Describe the main event, achievement, or activity.

  • When: When did it take place? Include the date and time if possible.

  • Where: Where did it happen? Provide the location or context.

  • Why: Why is this story important? Highlight its significance or impact.

  • How: How did it happen? Share the steps, process, or unique aspects that brought it to life.

60SEC News specific guidelines

The 60SEC News is a concise, engaging platform designed to highlight timely and impactful news from across the South England Conference. These 60-second updates can be shared during church announcements, included in newsletters, or circulated among members. To ensure your submission aligns with the format and purpose of 60SEC News, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Content Scope: Submissions should focus on recent events, achievements, or initiatives that occurred within the past six days of the Wednesday submission deadline. Priority will be given to stories with broad appeal or significant impact.

  2. Word Count: If only submitting for the 60SEC News, limit your submission to 50 words or fewer, while including the key details (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How). The focus is on brevity and clarity.

You can upload up to 6 images with a combined total size of 10MB.

Video and larger images

You can upload to our DropBox. N.B. If uploading to DropBox each file should be named clearly including the story title, and a sequential number, e.g., “My news story-01”.
