Prison Ministries Promotion Day at Frimley SDA Church
On 9 May 2026, Frimley Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church hosted the Area 5 Prison Ministries Promotion Day, bringing together Personal Ministries leaders, Prison Ministries volunteers, and other ministry partners from across the region. The event was designed to inspire, equip, and mobilise believers for compassionate outreach to incarcerated individuals and their families.
The successful planning and implementation of the event were led by Elder Kenny Simuawe of Frimley Church, who also serves as the Prison Ministries Coordinator, with the support of Pastor Andrei Balan, the SEC Area 5 ministerial coordinator. Their collaborative leadership ensured a well-structured, spiritually enriching, and practically focused programme. The organising team worked diligently to create an environment of unity, purpose, and mission readiness.
The training emphasised four key themes woven throughout the presentations and workshops: Passion, Persistence, Perseverance – Teamwork! Prayer, Discipleship, & Community – Go SEC Inspired for Mission! Together Everyone Achieves More – Area 5 is Gearing Up Training & Personal Ministries! Ready or Not – “United in One Voice!” These themes reflected the conference’s broader vision for intentional, collaborative, and Spirit-led ministry in prisons and the wider community.
Several contributors from across the South England Conference took part. They included Elder Ronald Jones, Pastor Andrei Balan, Sr Vivian Jere, Evangelist Robson Mugwiji, and Br Tawanda Mrewa. Pastor Andrei Balan preached the keynote message on the theme “From Broken to Breakthrough: Unlocking Chains” – a powerful exposition drawn from Scripture and pastoral experience, challenging attendees to see prison ministry as a pathway to spiritual freedom for both the incarcerated and the carers.
The biblical foundation for the day was taken from Nahum 1:13: “Now I will break their yoke from your neck and tear your shackles away.” This verse reinforced the theme of divine deliverance and the church’s role in proclaiming freedom to those in captivity.
During the promotion day, the following forthcoming training and fellowship opportunities were announced: a training series running from 22 to 24 May 2026, culminating in the Area 5 Day of Fellowship – a celebration of unity and mission following the training. These events are designed to build on the momentum of the promotion day, deepening the skills and spiritual readiness of all Personal and Prison Ministries volunteers.
The Frimley Church generously provided food for all attendees, fostering fellowship and creating space for informal networking and encouragement among the volunteers.
The Prison Ministries Promotion Day at Frimley SDA Church was a resounding success. Through the dedicated leadership of Elder Kenny Simuawe and Pastor Andrei Balan, the event achieved its aim of re-energising Area 5’s prison outreach. Attendees left not only better informed but also spiritually renewed, equipped with practical tools and a shared vision for breaking chains and bringing breakthroughs to those behind bars. The day affirmed that when the church unites in prayer, discipleship, and community, everyone achieves more.
May the Almighty God bless us.
