About the South England Conference (SEC):
The South England Conference is part of the British Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving over 29,000 members across 227 congregations. Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Treasurer to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will support the Conference Treasurer in managing the Conference’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, denominational policies, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a balance of technical accounting skills, integrity, and a heart for mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports
Support budgeting and forecasting processes across departments
Oversee accounts receivable/payable and manage reconciliations
Maintain financial records in line with SDA Church policies and UK regulatory standards
Provide financial guidance and support to churches, schools, and departments
Assist with audits and year-end financial procedures
Work collaboratively with the Treasury team to ensure smooth financial operations
Essential Requirements:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) – qualified or part-qualified
Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit or church environment
Strong understanding of accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to adhere to the standards and ethos of the Seventh-day Adventist church
Desirable:
Familiarity with Sun Plus or other church-based accounting systems
Experience in charity finance or working with charitable organisations
Understanding of Gift Aid and charity regulations in the UK
Salary:
Depending on qualification and proven work experience (minimum 3-5 years) in a financial management or accounting role, salary will range between £42,451.00 and £51,626.00 per annum.
Additional Information:
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for departmental events (with TOIL offered).
The postholder must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

The postholder is required to have a full, clean drivers licence.
