Area 8 Pathfinder Curriculum Camp – A Success
The Area 8 Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinder Curriculum Camp was successfully held from 1st to 4th May at Hay's Wood Retreat, King’s Lynn, bringing together Pathfinders, leaders, and volunteers for a period of structured learning, spiritual enrichment, and fellowship.
The camp formed part of the ongoing commitment within the South England Conference to nurture the holistic development of young people through the Pathfinder Ministry. The programme was designed to support curriculum progression while encouraging growth in leadership, practical skills, and Christian character.

Throughout the four-day event, Pathfinders actively participated in a variety of curriculum-based activities and honours training. These included camping and outdoor skills, first aid, nature study, and practical crafts. The hands-on sessions provided valuable opportunities for participants to gain new competencies while working collaboratively.
Drill and discipline sessions were conducted daily, promoting teamwork, coordination, and respect for leadership.

Spiritual development remained central to the camp experience. Daily morning and evening devotionals, Bible study sessions, and worship services provided a strong spiritual foundation. On the Sabbath, the divine service was led by Stanley Teixeira, South England Conference Pathfinder Director, whose sermon inspired and encouraged attendees. The Sabbath sunset devotion was conducted by Pastor Jerry Smith, providing a meaningful close of Sabbath reinforcing the spiritual focus of the camp.

The camp achieved its intended outcomes, with Pathfinders completing various honours, developing practical and leadership skills, and strengthening their spiritual commitment. The event also reinforced collaboration among clubs and highlighted the ongoing impact of the Pathfinder programme in shaping well-rounded young individuals.
The success of the Area 8 Pathfinder Curriculum Camp is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the organisers, volunteers, and leaders, whose collective efforts created a safe, enriching, and spiritually uplifting experience for all participants. Sincere appreciation is extended to Elder Bruce and Sister Thembi Mahlangu, Area 8 Coordinators, for their exemplary leadership and guidance in planning and delivering this impactful event. Such initiatives remain essential in equipping young people to serve their communities.
