The Day of “Nderemo” and “Vigelegele”

Evangelistic Campaign Report: Reading Angaza Seventh-day Adventist Church

The Day of “Nderemo” and “Vigelegele”

The public evangelistic campaign titled “Anakuja, Je, Uko Tayari?” (He’s Coming, Are You Ready?), held from 6–27 June 2026, concluded on a truly joyful note. As the campaign came to an end, two beautiful Swahili words found their way into the vocabulary of many who attended: Nderemo and Vigelegele, expressions of overwhelming joy, celebration and thanksgiving.

The Bible reminds us:

“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15:7, NIV)

This heavenly joy was reflected on earth as five young people publicly accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour through baptism. It was an unforgettable occasion filled with praise, celebration and heartfelt gratitude to God. The Swahili expressions Nderemo and Vigelegele perfectly captured the excitement experienced by the congregation, although many testified that the joy was simply beyond words.

A Hybrid Evangelistic Approach

The campaign adopted a hybrid (physical and online) approach to reach as many people as possible. Wednesday and Thursday meetings were conducted via Zoom, while Friday and Saturday meetings were held physically at Hexham Community Centre, with simultaneous live broadcasts on Zoom. This format enabled participants both locally and remotely to engage with the presentations throughout the three-week programme.

God’s Providence in Unexpected Circumstances

Pastor Charles Nyambane, who began serving as pastor of Reading Angaza SDA Church on 7 February 2026, unexpectedly became the principal speaker for the entire campaign. The originally invited evangelist, Pastor Baraka Butoke, was unable to travel after being denied a UK entry visa approximately one month before the meetings commenced. Likewise, the planned singing evangelist, Samwel Mhazini, was also denied a visa.

These unexpected developments initially caused understandable disappointment and concern among the organising team. However, through earnest prayer, unwavering faith and complete dependence on God’s leading, the church witnessed His providence in remarkable ways. A group of dedicated young people known as Voices of Zion graciously stepped in to lead the music ministry, bringing enthusiasm and spiritual encouragement throughout the campaign.

Health Ministry that Captivated All Ages

Health presentations were delivered by Mufalo Akayombokwa, who shared practical biblical principles of healthy living. Her engaging presentations highlighted the close relationship between lifestyle, nutrition and overall well-being.

One of the most encouraging observations was the enthusiastic participation of children aged six years and above. Their curiosity was evident as they eagerly asked thoughtful questions about health and nutrition. In many sessions, the children displayed even greater enthusiasm than the adults, creating lively and interactive discussions as Mufalo patiently responded to their many questions.

Continuing the Evangelistic Mission

The campaign extended beyond the public meetings through several follow-up initiatives. Participants were introduced to a 24-lesson Swahili Bible Discovery Course, available online for continued Bible study. In addition, a Decision Card enabled attendees to communicate their spiritual interests and requests directly with the ministry team.

Through these response cards, individuals were able to request:

  • Prayer

  • Pastoral visitation

  • Further Bible studies

  • Preparation for baptism

These initiatives have laid a strong foundation for continued discipleship and spiritual growth beyond the campaign itself.

To God Be the Glory

Above all, we praise God for the five precious souls who publicly committed their lives to Jesus Christ through baptism. Their decision brought joy not only to the congregation but also to heaven itself.

We kindly ask you to continue praying for these new believers as they begin their walk with Christ. May God strengthen them daily as they grow in faith and continue to experience the joy of new life in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

To God be all the glory for the wonderful things He has done.
