BUC President's State of the Union Address for BUC Churches

Pastor Eglan Brooks, President of the British Union Conference (BUC), recently delivered a State of the Union Address in conversation with BUC Stewardship Director Mrs Catherine Anthony Boldeau, sharing the progress and challenges in advancing the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church across the UK and Ireland. Pastor Brooks outlined each of the strategic priorities which can be read here – with a balanced yet realistic view of how each priority is being navigated.

During his address, Pastor Brooks emphasised the church's steadfast commitment to transparency, integrity, and engagement. He stressed the significance of unity, prayer, and collaborative effort. In an interactive session, Brooks fielded questions from members and ministers, fostering a sense of shared responsibility in fulfilling the church's mission.

Brooks also took a moment to celebrate the church's remarkable success in health ministries and community service. He acknowledged the challenges, both internal and external, that the church is grappling with. Brooks urged, "We must confront the realities of our time – be they social, economic, or spiritual – and find ways to progress together as a church, in faith and unity." His message radiates hope for a bright and united future for the church at large and the organisation, even in a world shrouded in darkness. He called on leaders and members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the mission of spiritual growth and service to God, emphasising that it is our collective action that will bring about the desired change.

Those who missed the live event can watch The Address, which is available on the BUC TV here. As Pastor Brooks and the BUC seek to listen and learn, you can submit questions to SOTU@adventist.uk.
