Bury St. Edmunds SDA Church Celebrates Ordination of Deaconesses and Deacons
On Sabbath, 1st February, the Bury St. Edmunds Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church rejoiced in ordaining three Deaconesses and two Deacons, affirming their dedication to serving God and His people.
Our resident pastor, Anthony Opoku-Mensah, led the sacred service, assisted by First Elder Richard Shone and Elder Eric McKnight. Eileen McKnight, Pearl Mitchell, and Lynn Dunn were ordained as Deaconesses, while Tiwonge Mwase-Vuma was ordained as an acting Deacon.
During the preparations, we were surprised to learn that our devoted Head Deacon, Vince Mitchell, had never been formally ordained. It was an honour and a privilege to rectify this oversight, officially recognising his faithful service to the church.
We pray that God’s guidance and strength will be upon these individuals as they step into their roles, following the example of Christ, who taught that true greatness comes through humble service (Matthew 23:11). As 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
May these newly ordained servants be filled with the Holy Spirit, continuing to work for the glory of God and the blessing of His people in Bury St. Edmunds.
