Death of Thérèse Valsin

We are sad to learn of the death of Thérèse Valsin, who passed away on 15 January aged 95.

Born in Rose-Hill, on the beautiful island of Mauritius on 17 October 1928, Thérèse attended the Adventist College, in Phoenix, Mauritius where she studied Bible and commercial courses.

She entered denominational employment on 1 September 1950, serving as a Bible instructor until her employment as a secretary at the Mission Bookshop. She enjoyed employment at the Mauritius Mission Adventist College as a Bible instructor, then as a secretary and secretary/cashier.

Thérèse married her sweetheart, Philippe Valsin on 21 April 1965.

In the summer of 1971, Thérèse and Philippe left Mauritius to pursue a new chapter of life in the UK and continuing their denominational service at Granose Foods Ltd – Philippe as a maintenance engineer and Thérèse initially as a packer until April 1973 and then as bookkeeper until she decided to take a break in service in October 1979. Thérèse returned as the cashier at the South England Conference office in June 1982 until her retirement in March 1992, having faithfully served the church she loved dearly for 38 years.

The funeral was held on Thursday 1 February at the Stanborough Park Seventh-day Adventist church, at 11:00 am.

We extend our deepest condolences to Thérèse's family, daughter Christina, son-in-law Gary, and grandchildren Bianca and Ben, as we keep them in our caring thoughts and prayers.

We look forward to Christ's soon return on that glorious resurrection day. It won't be long…
