Festival of Well-Being Brings Hope and Healing to High Wycombe
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the heart of High Wycombe was filled with joy, compassion, and community spirit as the Festival of Well-Being brought together over 600 residents for a day of health, hope, and connection.
Organised in partnership with MIND (High Wycombe), the local Council, and Cornerstone, and led by Wycombe Community Seventh-day Adventist Church and Hope Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church, this collaborative event united multiple community groups with a shared goal: to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being in our town.
The highlight of the day was the free health screening station, staffed by qualified healthcare professionals and volunteers from the local churches. Over 150 individuals received services including blood sugar testing, respiratory checks, and massage therapy. These services not only supported the physical health of those who attended but also opened doors to meaningful conversations about lifestyle, wellness, and faith.
Youth Leading with Love and Creativity
A special feature of the festival was the involvement of our Pathfinders and young people, who ran a colourful and welcoming craft stall. With Father’s Day just around the corner, they engaged children from across the community in creating handmade Father’s Day cards and crafts. The stall buzzed with activity, laughter, and creativity throughout the day, and was extremely well received by families. Parents expressed appreciation for a space where children could participate meaningfully and joyfully, while also highlighting the values of love, gratitude, and family.
Faith in Action
In addition to health screenings and children’s crafts, both churches hosted vibrant stalls with literature, flyers, and information about their ongoing ministries, youth programmes, and support services. Many visitors engaged in heartfelt conversations, with several remarking how much they appreciated the presence of the churches in the community. One attendee noted, “What you’re doing today shows your love for Jesus in action—you are the hands and feet of Jesus in our town.”
The Festival of Well-Being was more than an event—it was a living demonstration of unity, service, and compassion. It showed what can be accomplished when churches, charities, and civic organisations work together with purpose. We look forward to building on the success of this event as we continue to serve, uplift, and love our community in tangible and lasting ways.
