Obituary - Pastor D C Clothier

We are saddened by the news of the death of Pastor Derek Charles Clothier, who passed away on 24 July 2024, aged 92. Born in Trealaw, Rhondda Valley, South Wales, on 24 August 1931, Pastor Clothier was influenced by the faith of his mother and the late Pastor Charles D Wilson and was baptised by the late Pastor S G Hyde in September 1945.

In February 1948, Pastor Clothier joined the Colporteur ministry at the Colporteur Institute in Watford. As a full-time colporteur, he distributed Bibles and religious literature in South Wales. He served in the military from February 1950 to February 1952.

He married his sweetheart, Margaret Lowe, on 2 April 1956. They had a daughter, Natalie. Sadly, following 52 years of marriage and ministry, Margaret passed away on 29 October 2018. Clothier's dedication to the Seventh-day Adventist Church for 37 years, both here and overseas, is a testament to his unwavering faith and service. He is survived by his daughter, Natalie.

We extend our deepest condolences to Natalie, the extended family and the church communities Pastor Clothier served.

Funeral Details – Pastor Derek C Clothier

The funeral service will be held on Monday, 4 November at the Weston-super-Mare Seventh-day Adventist church at 1:00 pm and after to the crematorium, then back to the church for the repass.

As a tribute to Pastor Clothier's Welsh heritage, we kindly request that attendees wear something yellow, such as the daffodil, the national flower of Wales. This small gesture will help us remember him in a unique way.

As we mourn his passing, we hold on to the hope of Christ's soon return on that glorious resurrection day, a comforting thought in these difficult times. It will not be long (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
