Portuguese-speaking Day of Fellowship at Newbold College

Largest Gathering of Portuguese-speaking Churches Takes Place at Newbold College.

Nearly 1,000 attend Day of Fellowship celebrating faith, unity, and mission.

Binfield, UK – September 13, 2025 – A historic milestone was reached as nearly 1,000 Portuguese-speaking Adventists gathered at Newbold College of Higher Education for the largest Day of Fellowship ever held in the Trans-European Division (TED).

The day overflowed with vibrant praise and heartfelt worship, celebrating faith, community, and mission. The highlight came as five individuals surrendered their lives to Christ in baptism, a moving reminder of the mission that unites the church.

Portuguese-speaking churches are a growing spiritual force in the British Union Conference (BUC), with 13 established congregations and two more currently being planted. Their contribution is not only in numbers but also in their passion for mission and deep commitment to service.

Pastor Clebson Braga, President of CEPE (Portuguese-speaking Churches Council), reflected on the significance of this movement:

Our churches are alive with faith and mission. We are witnessing new growth and seeing lives transformed. Portuguese-speaking congregations are not on the margins; they are at the heart of the mission in the BUC and TED.

As migration continues to bring Portuguese- and Brazilian-speaking families into the UK and across Europe, these congregations are becoming centres of integration and mission, offering hope, community, and a strong witness for Christ.

The Day of Fellowship at Newbold was a reminder that the church’s strength lies in its diversity. Portuguese-speaking members are a vital presence in the mission of the Adventist Church in this region, shaping its future and testifying to God’s work across cultures and generations.
