The Ezer – Like Father, Like Daughter (A Very Present Help)

Hackney SDA Church Women’s Day

The final Sabbath (29th March) of what has been nationally designated as International Women’s Month came to a fitting end with the celebration of women and mothers ahead of the following day, typically celebrated as Mother’s Day. Children from the Junior Sabbath School presented colourful roses to the mothers of the church, while Adult Sabbath School Superintendents Beverley Daley, Yvette Smith, and Veronica Joseph affirmed the important role mothers play in the home, church, and community.

Elder Kevin, New Life Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church summarised the Adult Lesson Study, which for the past quarter has considered God’s love and justice.

Elder Darell Philip shared two poems—one for the youth as their Youth Week of Prayer came to an end, and the other for mothers and women in general in respect of the occasion of International Women’s Month, which ends this year with the national celebration of mothers on Sunday 30th March.

Invited guest speaker, Elder Shannon Collins (Chiswick SDA Church), in her message entitled “The Ezer – Like Father, Like Daughter (A Very Present Help)” spoke of the qualities of women as more than just being a help meet, but rather as women being seen as the rescuer, saver, and strength in the home, church, and community. Collins’ effervescent personality and positive energy in the delivery of her message resonated well with the entire congregation, among them her husband and also her very own mother.
