Watford Town Celebrates Diversity on International Day
Members and visitors at Watford Town Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered on Sabbath, 14 March 2026, for a joyful celebration of culture, faith, and unity during the church’s annual International Day.
From the moment attendees entered the building, they were welcomed by colourful banners and decorations displaying flags from around the world, immediately setting the tone for a day dedicated to celebrating the global nature of the church family.

The special service highlighted the rich diversity within the congregation, which represents more than 33 nationalities. Worshippers arrived dressed in vibrant traditional attire from their home countries, creating a striking display of cultures from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, South Asia, and the South Pacific.
The family service began with a flag parade featuring all 33 countries represented within the congregation, each proudly displayed with its national flag. The procession provided a powerful visual reminder of the church’s international makeup and the unity shared among its members.
Throughout the programme, music, cultural presentations, and personal testimonies reflected the unique backgrounds of the congregation while emphasising the shared faith that brings everyone together.
During the service, Pastor Johnson delivered the sermon titled “Cement Between the Bricks,” focusing on love as the binding force that unites people, particularly within the church community. Drawing on biblical principles and creatively adapting the story of The Three Little Pigs, he illustrated how love serves as the “cement” that strengthens relationships and builds a strong spiritual foundation. He emphasised that genuine Christian love transcends differences and helps believers resist the divisions that can arise within communities.
The service celebrated how the gospel transcends borders, languages, and traditions, uniting believers as one global family in Christ. It also served as a reminder of the worldwide mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a global movement committed to sharing the message of hope and salvation with communities around the world.
In the afternoon, the Adventist Youth Service (AYS) continued the international theme with a lively Who Wants to Be a Millionaire-style icebreaker that tested participants’ knowledge of languages from around the world, discovering who among the congregation had the gift of languages.
The evening social provided an opportunity for members to share cuisines from around the globe, with individuals offering unique insights into the foods and traditions of their respective countries.
Visitors, members, and church leaders expressed gratitude for the diversity represented at Watford Town and encouraged the congregation to continue building bridges within the local community through service, fellowship, and hospitality.
The day proved to be a meaningful expression of unity in diversity, reflecting the beauty of a multicultural church family worshipping together and celebrating God’s blessings across cultures.
We can confidently declare that we are Watford Town International Church!
