ZAWAC 2024: A Weekend of Faith, Fellowship, and New Beginnings

The annual Zimbabwe Adventist Women Abroad Conference (ZAWAC) took place from July 4-7, 2024, at the Hay’s Wood Retreat Centre in the UK. This year's event, themed "Wait and Murmur Not," inspired attendees to wait patiently upon God while fostering a strong sense of community and support among women from various backgrounds.

The conference featured powerful sermons from Dr Donnette Blake of New York, who delivered messages that resonated deeply with the participants. Morning devotions led by South England Conference (SEC) Prayer Ministries Coordinator Linda Asare guided the women into prayerful reflection each day, setting a spiritual tone for the event.

The weekend emphasised fellowship and mutual support, creating an environment where attendees could share their experiences and uplift one another. Participants engaged in both spiritual and social activities, strengthening their bonds and providing mutual encouragement. The event aimed to support those facing life's challenges, such as the sick and bereaved. It also sought to strengthen the resolve of participants and provide a spiritual foundation for those choosing to follow Jesus.

Attendees hailed from diverse nationalities, including Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, the Caribbean, America, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Ghana, and notably, many non-Adventists. The conference not only bolstered the Adventist community but also welcomed a wide array of nationalities, fostering unity and shared purpose among all attendees.

The highlight of the event was the baptism of four candidates on Saturday afternoon, following an inspiring sermonette by Sindile Mabena. The serene atmosphere of the retreat centre provided a perfect setting for this significant spiritual milestone. As each candidate stepped into the water, they were surrounded by heartfelt prayers and joyous support. This year's conference demonstrated how collective spiritual support can foster resilience, hope, and personal transformation. The shared experiences and mutual encouragement among the women created a nurturing environment that uplifted everyone involved.
