Moved with Compassion: Taunton and Chard SDA Women Reach Out to Community
On Sabbath, 8 August 2026, the Women’s Ministry at Taunton Church, led by Julia and Manuela, had a truly blessed and uplifting event in Chard. Women from both Taunton and Chard in Somerset gathered together under the beautiful theme, “Moved with Compassion.”
Our guest speaker, Susan Hope, shared a powerful and heartfelt message on “A Heart That Cares.” Her sermon encouraged us to look beyond ourselves, to care for others, and to allow God’s compassion to move us into action. It was a lovely and inspiring message, and everyone was blessed by the Word of God.
Following the morning programme, the women went out into the town of Chard to share God’s love with the community. We sang songs to God, praised and worshipped Him, and gave flowers and cards to people we met around the town. It was a beautiful opportunity to spread kindness, encouragement, and the love of Christ, and we were grateful to see how blessed everyone was by the experience.
We are also very thankful for the support of our resident minister, Hope Njoku, the elders, and everyone who helped make the day possible. The men served faithfully in the kitchen, preparing and organising lunch for everyone. Their support was greatly appreciated, and we all enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship together.
In the afternoon, the women gathered for a group discussion with Sister Othilia, where we had the opportunity to reflect on the message of compassion and share our thoughts and experiences. It was a meaningful time of fellowship, learning, and encouragement.
Overall, it was a wonderful and blessed Sabbath, filled with worship, fellowship, service, and compassion. We thank God for bringing us together and for allowing us to share His love with the people of Chard.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32
