World Adventurer Day Celebration at Welling Church – 16 May 2026
Welling Church joyfully celebrated World Adventurer Day on 16 May 2026. The day began with great excitement as two Adventurers, accompanied by one of our church elders, were given the special opportunity to ride in the mayoral limousine of the London Borough of Bexley. From beginning to end, the enthusiasm was unmistakable.
The service commenced with a vibrant procession as the drummer, flag bearers, councillors, Adventurers, and Pathfinders marched into the church and took their respective places. The recitation of the Adventurer Pledge and Law formed an important part of the worship experience, reminding everyone of the values and principles that guide young Adventurers.
We were honoured to welcome Councillor Christine Catterall, Mayor of Bexley, and her Consort, Mr Dave Curtois, who graciously accepted our invitation to celebrate with us.
During a question-and-answer session, the Mayor spoke briefly about her responsibilities and civic duties. This provided the Adventurers with valuable insight into how they can become actively involved in community projects and develop as responsible citizens within the London Borough of Bexley.
Under the overarching theme, “Walking with Jesus,” the congregation was reminded that the Christian journey is not always a smooth and exciting five-minute drive that ends all too quickly. Rather, walking with Jesus is a thoughtful and sometimes challenging journey – one that may include disappointments along the way, yet remains deeply rewarding and full of purpose.
Our young speakers, Munachimnso and Caleb, both aged nine, delivered inspiring messages that highlighted the importance of following Jesus daily. Their contributions added a special touch to the programme and demonstrated the spiritual growth and confidence being nurtured within our Adventurer Club.
The celebration was a memorable occasion, filled with worship, learning, fellowship, and a renewed commitment to walk faithfully with Jesus.
