Worthing SDA Church Community Outreach Report
Sabbath Worship on the Streets of Worthing
On Sabbath, 9 May 2026, the members of Worthing Seventh-day Adventist Church took Sabbath worship beyond the church walls and into the streets of Worthing. The purpose of this outreach initiative was to bring the church to the people where they are and to share the love, hope, and message of Christ with the wider community in a practical and visible way.
The outreach programme included the singing of hymns of praise, distribution of inspirational books, and the sharing of well-prepared fruit, water, and juice, especially for children and members of the public passing by. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and spiritually uplifting.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the outreach was the opportunity to engage members of the community in prayer and conversation. Many people stopped to interact with the team, share their experiences, and receive encouragement. Several comments from the public reflected the positive impact of the event, including:
“It has been so long since I heard hymns sung live.”
“Well done for being so brave.”
“I will come to church with you.”
“Stop causing nuisance.”
These responses demonstrated the range of reactions often experienced in public ministry while also highlighting the importance of maintaining a visible Christian presence within the community.
The event was well supported and patronised by both church members and the local community. Appreciation is extended to the outreach team, hospitality team, in-reach team, and administrative team for their dedication, commitment, and teamwork in making the programme a success.
As a district, our mission remains to “Go SEC” in Worthing and Brighton & Hove by taking the gospel into our communities in fulfilment of Christ’s commission to “preach, baptise and teach” as found in the Gospel of Matthew 28:16–20.
May God continue to guide and bless the ministry of outreach and community engagement within our district.
