As We Rejoice, So Do the Angels
Balham Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church was blessed to celebrate three separate occasions on Sabbath, 31st January 2026. Ministerial Intern Sindile Mabena was introduced to the congregants of Pastor Michael Salmon upon his return from his sick leave, for which we give God thanks.
Sindile was introduced to the congregants by Pastor Kwesi Moore, SEC Ministerial Association Director, who also delivered the sermon titled “You Need a Heart Transplant.” Sindile will be supporting Pastor Mike upon his return from his sick leave and continuing her role at Peckham SDA.
Pastor Kwesi’s sermon which he shared with us, he reminded us that as long as we live, we will be plagued by the power of sin, but we have the assurance that our Saviour will return, ending the power of sin, essentially freeing us. We were also reminded of the Israelites being rebellious and thus suffering consequences. However, though they were rebellious, God still extended His invitation to them, as He still does with us today—through the good intentions God has towards us, wanting to redeem us.
Candidates were reminded that God has big plans for them and what they do must be an outward show of their relationship with Jesus. Through the relationship with Christ comes the transformation which then shows the outgrowth of what God does internally. Nevertheless, we were all reminded that we are prone to sin and therefore, the church was implored to not expect perfection from the candidates.
Additionally, the candidates were encouraged to daily submit to God, waking early to spend time with Him. They were reminded that the voice they want to hear is that of God. There is no other name by which we can be saved, other than the name of Christ Jesus.
Pastor Kwesi’s sermon was beautifully closed with the celebration of the public declaration through baptism of three young ladies—Danielle Salmon, Elysia Yuen, and Novia Delisser-Edwards. As the church rejoiced as each woman was immersed, so did the angels in heaven.
