Aylesbury SDA Church’s “True North” VBS Inspires Over 55 Children to Trust in Jesus

The Aylesbury Seventh-day Adventist Church recently hosted its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) under the theme “True North – Trusting Jesus”, drawing more than 55 children from the church and wider community for four days of faith-filled fun, learning, and spiritual growth.

The programme was led by passionate VBS Director Trisha Yearwood, supported by a vibrant team of teen and youth volunteers. Not only did these young leaders help facilitate the activities, but they also grew in their own leadership skills. The event became a true intergenerational effort, with Pastor Trevor Thomas, church elders, members, and UCY Director “Uncle Craige” offering guidance and support throughout.

A highlight of the week came during the graduation service, where Uncle Craige delivered a powerful message using engaging object lessons and practical demonstrations to help children and parents understand what it truly means to trust in Jesus.

The church was filled with joy and gratitude as parents shared the lasting impact the programme had on their families:

“At first, I was worried about my son joining because he has autism and struggles with communication. But you were understanding and welcoming. He quickly felt comfortable and made friends. The children who attended made him feel included. You’re shaping future leaders and changemakers.”

— Faith, Parent

“Beyond the fun and excitement, it’s the friendships my daughter formed with other children who love Jesus that have left a lasting impact. As parents, it’s been beautiful to witness her faith grow in such a vibrant and nurturing environment.”

— Rutendo & Dumisani, Parents

With the success of this year’s VBS, the team is already preparing for next year’s adventure: “Rainforest Falls – Exploring the Nature of God.” This nature-themed programme promises another exciting opportunity for children to grow in faith through Bible stories, interactive activities, and Christ-centred friendships.

The Aylesbury SDA Church extends heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the success of “True North”—especially the volunteers, families, and Uncle Craige. It was a truly blessed experience that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
